Movin’ On

By Erin

Some of you may already know this, but with the number of remarks I have been getting about going back to Turkey, I figured I would say something about it here.  For next season, we are not headed back to Bandirma.  We found out about a month ago from Joe’s agent, that Banvit was opting not to fulfill the contract he had signed back in December for the 2009-2010 season.  It didn’t come as a huge surprise, since they had signed a new coach for next season and some rules in the Turkish league were going to be different.  I don’t think either of us was hugely disappointed.  Of course, we will miss our friends there and it is always easy to go back to a place you know, where an apartment is already set-up and the kids’ have a preschool.  But last season was one of the toughest in our 7 year marriage, for various reasons.  So part of me felt relief to be starting off somewhere else fresh.

So now we are back to the drawing board, so to speak.  Joe’s agent is negotiating a settlement with Banvit and also looking for a new team for next season.  This is just par for the course in the life of a basket wife, and in a way was encouraging.  In the past, a situation like this may have thrown me for a bigger loop.  But when we found out, I really wasn’t too flustered, which was encouraging to me to see that God has been at work in my heart to make my trust in him, and not in Joe’s job situation.

I have always found things happen for a reason. You know of course its Gods reason. But you still wonder why? What happens to all of your stuff or was it stuff that you can just replace and not keepsakes. I give you a lot of credit for being able to do this. Joe would like to move now and I don’t want to. So our prayers are with the Crispin family.

I am glad you are at rest with the situation. It is never easy, but you are right. It is par for the course. Certainly something better will come along. :)
